More than $30 million in Federal Government funding under the Black Spot Program will be used to help improve 66 dangerous crash sites across NSW in 2023-24, the Government has announced today.
It says the state will receive $31.9 million to greatly improve safety at locations where crashes are occurring, or are risk of occurring, by funding treatments such as pedestrian crossings, guardrails and roundabouts.
“These 66 Black Spot projects will go a long way towards reducing serious injuries and deaths on NSW roads and build on previous investments across the state,” said Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Carol Brown.
Anyone can nominate a Black Spot for considation. The Government’s Consultative Panels provide stakeholders with the opportunity to have a say in the project selection process and ensure nominations of the highest priority and importance to local communities are recommended for approval.
The NSW panel includes representatives from Transport for NSW, the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, the Traffic Management Association of Australia, Local Government NSW, the NRMA, the NSW Police Force, the Centre for Road Safety, and the Federation of P&C Associations.
