Low Cost Exercise Classes Available for Over 65s

Then we have a great opportunity for you!

Exercise Right for Active Ageing is a national program designed for older Australians over 65 funded by the Australian Government’s Move it AUS – Better Ageing Grants Program.

The program aims to help you:
• Move more through affordable exercise classes led by university qualified professionals
• Improve your quality of life and overall health
• Connect with like-minded people in a fun, safe and friendly setting

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

You will be eligible for:
• 1 x pre-exercise screening and assessment (small cost)
• 12 x 1-hour in-person sessions OR 12 x shorter 20, 30 or 45 minute sessions via Telehealth
• 1 x post-assessment (free)
Please note, pre-assessments and post-assessments can be done in your home.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

To take part in the program, these will be the cost for you:
• $8.00 for each one hour in-person class
• $6.00 for each 45 minute Telehealth class
• $4.00 for each 30 minute Telehealth class
• $3.00 for each 20 minute Telehealth class

The subsidies only apply 12 classes no matter how long a class you do.

Your final assessment is provided free of charge. An additional one-off payment is also required for
your pre-assessment which varies depending on where you live. Please contact your local provider
for more information.

WHO RUNS THE CLASSES?

Each class will be run by a university qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) or Accredited
Exercise Scientist (AES). The classes are delivered either at a physical facility or via an approved
Telehealth provider.

• Improved safety during exercises
• Exercises that are better targeted to your needs (no scary or excessive exercise)
• Ongoing health advice to help you stay active
• Referral pathways to other health professionals or services that may suit your needs
