Woman charged over theft of $104,000 from 71-year-old victim

A woman has been charged following an investigation into the alleged defrauding of a 71-year-old man to the tune of more than $100,000 in the state’s Central West.

“In July last year, officers from Orana Mid Western Police District commenced an investigation after reports a 71-year-old man had been defrauded on several occasions,” NSW Police said in a statement today.

“Following extensive inquiries, a 59-year-old woman was arrested by investigators at Dubbo Police Station on Tuesday.”

A search warrant was executed at the woman’s home in Tomingley the same day.

“Detectives seized documentation relevant to the investigation, which will undergo further examination.”

The woman was charged with 17 counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

Police will allege in court that the woman stole more than $104,000 via multiple transactions between October 2019 and June 2020, while acting as his trustee.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on November 10.
