Search for missing 71-year-old bushwalker

Stanthorpe and Wallangarra police are currently searching the Girraween National Park on the Granite Belt for a missing 71-year-old man.

Manfred Luck (pictured) was last spoken to on Saturday, March 27, prior to commencing a bushwalk in the Girraween National Park the following day.

“Manfred was reported missing on Monday morning, after he failed to make contact after his bushwalk,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Police with the assistance of SES are currently searching the National Park, following the discovery of Manfred’s vehicle in the carpark at 9am yesterday.

A forward command post has been set up on Mount Norman Road in Wallangarra.

Police say Manfred is believed to be an experienced bushwalker and was carrying a backpack at the time of his bushwalk.

Manfred is described as Caucasian, about 170cm tall with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police are appealing to anyone who has been hiking in the Girraween National Park and may have seen Manfred to contact police.
