Arcare Slacks Creek has celebrated the wedding of its Residence Manager, Kevin Landles and Clinical Lead nurse, Mary Thompson on the grounds of the aged care home.
Kevin and Mary have been together for three years and have worked alongside each other
for more than 10 years across multiple aged care residences.
Kevin and Mary had originally planned to get married in 2021, but their plans were put on
hold after their son was involved in a motorcycle accident.
After working at Arcare for a few months, Kevin and Mary say they realised that the aged care residents had missed out on a number of celebrations and special events due to pandemic lockdowns.
“When we were planning for our delayed wedding, we thought that this may be an
opportunity to be married in front of those we care for and those we work alongside,” the couple said.

“For the residents, we hope that they feel a part of our extended family, they recognise the
value that we place on them and they can use the day to reminisce on their own happy
memories over the years. After all, everyone loves a party!” says Kevin.
The wedding was a fusion of Scottish and Maori cultures, featuring bagpipes, traditional
Scottish kilts, a Māori Haka from the bride’s family and traditional Māori dress (consisting of the kurawai, patu and feathered headband).

After the ceremony, food and drinks were served by Arcare team members, including the
bride and groom.
A big congratulations to the newlyweds from the Australian Seniors News team.
