Mum, Dad and son arrested over backyard drugs and cash

A 38-year-old man and his parents – aged 62 and 59 – will face court today after detectives allegedly uncovered more than $50,000 in cash and a quantity of drugs buried in the backyard of their Morphett Vale property on Saturday.

Taskforce Southern investigators, a Major Crime operation into violence, crimes and suspected murders in the southern suburbs, assisted by STAR Operations and Serious and Organised Crime Branch, attended the Morphett Vale home, SA Police said in a statement today.

Detectives conducted a comprehensive search of the house and garden, including digging up large sections of the rear yard.

“It will be alleged detectives found approximately 616 grams of methamphetamine hidden in poly pipe buried in the garden. In a separate buried container officers found $50,870 in cash,” SA Police said.

Detectives also seized jewellery and an e-bike, which they will allege are the proceeds of crime.

A 38-year-old man and his parents, a 62-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, all from Morphett Vale, were arrested and charged with trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, possessing prescription drugs and money laundering. They were refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.

Anyone with information about the manufacture, sale or supply of illicit drugs, or any other criminal activity in the southern suburbs, can report it anonymously to police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
