Much-loved actress Mary Ward dies at 106

Veteran Australian actress, Mary Ward, has passed away at the age of 106.

Ms Ward, best known for her role in the 1980’s crime drama Prisoner, reportedly died “peacefully” in a BlueCross retirement home in Victoria.

Her cousin, Mark Breheny, told TV tonight, that her family would visit regularly her until COVID-19 lockdown restrictions made it impossible.

“She led a remarkable life and spent her last years with much love and support from family and friends,” he said.

“Not to mention the occasional Prisoner fan, many of whom still wrote to her.”

Born on March 6, 1915, Ms Ward also appeared in he 1980s drama, Sons and Daughters after her success with Prisoner.

She also appeared in A Country Practice, The Henderson Kids, Neighbours and the popular cop show, Blue Heelers.
