Brisbane Arcare Aged Care resident, Lillian Peach, has celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family.
“I want to say a big thank you to Leia and the catering team for making Mum’s 100th
birthday so special. Mum and our family had the best day and the Arcare gift was
very special; Lady Lillian was very thrilled,” said Lillian’s daughter, Sue Goldsworthy.
The centenarian celebration included an outdoor high tea with cake and desserts and a surprise birthday gift from the Arcare’s North Shore team.
The team had purchased a square foot of nature reserve land in Scotland for her and she is now officially known as Lady Lillian Peach.
“We believe it is important to celebrate birthdays as they are special milestones in our residents’ lives and we enjoy seeing people come together to celebrate that,” Arcare Lifestyle Coordinator, Leia said.
Born in Ayr, Queensland in 1922, Lillian May Jean Peach was the first of three children. She loved school and was an avid learner. In 1935, Lillian was the first person enrolled in Ayr State High School. After finishing school, Lillian was proud to work at 4AY and remembers this “as the best job in Ayr”.

During World War 1, Lillian moved to Rockhampton, but returned to Ayr and fell for the charms of Bill Peach. Lillian and Bill were married in 1945 and went on to have six children – Billy, Robert, Vicki, twins Tony and John, and Susan.
Lillian was a talented dressmaker who had much pleasure designing wedding gowns and making brides look their best. She was generously involved in charity work and sewed banners and costumes for the local Marius Brothers.
She also travelled around Australia and the world as she had a love for exploring new places.
Today, Lillian’s 13 grandchildren bring much joy to her life as she enjoys watching them grow into wonderful adults and attending christenings, graduations, weddings and more.
Lillian’s ‘full of life’ attitude, courage and resilience has been remarkable to witness throughout her years and has undoubtedly contributed to her reaching this incredible milestone.

She is a Mum, Nana, Great Nana and friend who is dearly loved by everyone around her.
“I would like to wish Lady Lillian a Happy Birthday, we hope she enjoyed the birthday party and we look forward to celebrating with her again next year,” Leia added.
