Husband charged with wife’s murder

Queensland Police have arrested the Air Force pilot husband of 49-year-old Upper Lockyer woman, Frances Crawford, whose body was found at the couple’s home in the early hours of July 30th.

Emergency crews were initially called to a report of an incident at the couple’s Thomas Road property in the Lockyer Valley just before 3.40am on July 30 where Mrs Crawford’s body was found alongside a ride-on lawnmower at the foot of a retaining wall in the backyard of the property.

An investigation centre was set up with teams of detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command Homicide Group and Gatton Criminal Investigation Branch into the circumstances that lead to her death.

This morning detectives arrested Mrs Crawford’s 47-year-old husband, Robert Crawford.

“He has since been charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence) and misconduct with a corpse by interfering,” Queensland Police said.

He is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Just days ago, Police revealed that Mr Crawford had been having relationships with women across the world and around Australia. He had met some of the women on dating apps and through his professional life as a Royal Australian Air Force Squadron Leader based at Amberley Air Base, near Ipswich.

“Detectives can confirm a number of people have provided information since our last public appeal and thank those people for their bravery in coming forward,” Queensland Police said in a statement today.
