Five aged care workers test positive

NSW Health has issued a media release this afternoon to clarify the numbers of aged care and health workers now infected with COVID-19.

All nine cases, it says, are associated with a COVID-19 positive healthcare worker case announced on Wednesday.

“There are a total of nine other cases associated with this healthcare worker. Four of them are healthcare or aged care workers, meaning there are five healthcare or aged care workers in the total group of 10,” the health authority said in a statement.

“The majority of these healthcare or aged care workers are linked by social or household contact, not via the workplace.”

Four of the healthcare or aged care workers worked while infectious, while one did not. NSW Health said contacts in patients and staff at the facilities have been identified and tested for coronavirus.

NSW Health has also issued an updated list of venues of concern associated with confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Anyone who attended the following venues at the times listed is a close contact and must immediately get tested and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result, and call 1800 943 553 unless they have already been contacted by NSW Health:
