Female parking ranger assaulted

A man will face court after a 53-year-old female parking ranger was assaulted in Sydney’s CBD yesterday.

Police say that at around 10am yesterday, a woman was carrying out her duties as a council ranger when she was allegedly hit by a car door on Argyle Street, The Rocks.

Police will allege the 53-year-old woman approached a parked car to mark its tyre when the male driver, aged 34, intentionally opened the door onto the ranger, striking her in the head.

The man then allegedly got out of the car, hit her hand and verbally abused her.

Police say the woman was uninjured during the alleged assault.

About 1.50pm the same day the man was arrested at a work site in Drummoyne and was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with common assault.
