Cop charged over tasering of 95-year-old great grandmother

The NSW Police officer who tasered 95-year-old dementia sufferer, Clare Nowland, in an aged care facility in Cooma last Wednesday has tonight been charged by the Homicide Squad.

Thirty-three year old Senior Constable Kristian White (pictured, left), an officer with 12 years experience under his belt, is facing three charges including recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

NSW Police Commissioner, Karen Webb tonight confirmed the officer will appear in Cooma Local Court on July 5th.

Mrs Nowland (pictured, right), a resident of Yallambee Lodge in the NSW Snowy Mountains, is receiving end-of-life care in hospital following the incident.

The great grandmother fell and struck her head after being tasered by Senior Constable White.

A critical incident investigation is continuing.
