Carer charged over theft from 86-year-old woman

The carer of an 86-year-old Sydney woman has been charged after allegedly stealing more than $15,000 in cash and jewellery from the elderly woman.

Police say that earlier this month, officers from North Shore Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports jewellery and cash had been stolen from the home of the 86-year-old Milson Point woman.

“Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 32-year-old woman at a home in Dee Why about 8am yesterday,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“She was taken to Manly Police Station and charged with two counts of steal property in dwelling house – greater than $15,000.”

The woman – who was employed as the elderly woman’s carer – was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on September 15.
