A group of retirement village friends who stripped off in the name of charity, have now handed over more than $33,000 to WA’s Breast Cancer Research Centre as a result of their bare efforts.
Homeowners from the Tuart Lakes Lifestyle Village stripped for a 2022 charity calendar with a view to raising funds for breast cancer research and to inspire Australian women to check their breasts.
Since the calendar launch in October 2021, the women have received amazing support from their Tuart Lakes Community, selling more than 2,000 calendars.
Bev Hall rallied more than 18 fellow village homeowners to take part in the calendar initiative.
“I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of people and the stories I have heard throughout this whole experience,” she said.

“When we were contacting people who had ordered calendars often they would share their cancer related stories which was absolutely heartbreaking in many instances.
For me, that really showed the significance of what we’re doing and the importance of raising money towards breast cancer research so that this disease will become a distant memory.”
Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting Australian women. After the $33,245 cheque presentation to the Breast Cancer Research Centre Western Australia (BCRC-WA), the ladies, along with their partners and invited visitors enjoyed a late lunch to celebrate their wonderful achievement.

The money raised was received by CEO of BCRC-WA, Carmelo Arto, who said funds will go towards breast care nurses and psychologist to help patients through their breast cancer journey.
“We want to remind women of all ages to check their breasts and have a breast screening. With so many women in the over-50s age group affected by breast cancer we hope that this money raised will advance research,” says Bev.

Tuart Lakes Lifestyle Village is part of the National Lifestyle Village communities owned and operated by Serenitas.
