With the help of his grandad, a 15-year-old school boy from Colac, south-west of Melbourne, is preparing to perform with the country’s best Elvis tribute artists at Australia’s largest nostalgia festival, Cooly Rocks On on the Gold Coast from June 5-9.
Baby-faced Year 10 student, Charlie Gaylard began performing as Elvis just two years ago after seeing the Baz Lurhmann biopic and is now wowing audiences, including his classmates.
Charlie manages to juggle his newfound talents with school, often researching Elvis, his dance moves, music and famous style, before and after class.
The schoolboy is managed by his 73-year-old grandfather, Greg, who has been playing Elvis’ iconic music to Charlie since he was a young boy and together the pair say they’re living out their wildest dreams.
Charlie will be performing at Australia’s largest nostalgia festival, Cooly Rocks On, where more than 160,000 visitors are expected to flock to the Gold Coast over five massive days this week.
