Some ACT parks closed during lockdown

The ACT Government has announced the closure of some parks and reserves until further notice in line with the current COVID-19 public health directions.

The closed areas are:

  • Namadgi National Park (including the visitors centre);
  • Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve (including the visitors centre);
  • Lower Cotter Catchment;
  • Cotter precinct (including Cotter Campground and Blue Range);
  • Kambah Pool;
  • Uriarra Crossing;
  • Woods Reserve Campground;
  • Northern Borders Campground;
  • Googong Foreshores;

The remainder of parks and reserves throughout Canberra will remain open and provide opportunities for people to access these areas for their daily hour of exercise. Vehicle access to Pine Island is not permitted.

“The ACT Government asks Canberrans not to leave their local region to visit the parks and reserves that remain open,” it said in a statement this morning.

“Face masks must be carried at all times and worn by everyone aged 12 years and over outside the home.”

You can find more information about parks and reserves in your local area on the ACT Parks and Conservation website.

Further details on the approved reasons for leaving home and COVID requirements are available on the ACT COVID-19 website.
