Rapid COVID tests available from Thursday

Rapid Antigen Tests will be available from Osborne House on Victoria Road in Osborne from Thursday, City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council announced today.

“The distribution of RATs for close contacts across metropolitan and regional South Australia is a significant logistical task,” the Council said in a statement.

“The South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) are working with partner agencies to coordinate the rollout. This includes local Councils, the LGA, SAPOL, SES, the Red Cross, Surf Life Saving Australia and Disaster Relief Australia.”

It said the regional LGAs where pick-up locations will be based, and the dates these sites will commence, are:

  • Port Adelaide Enfield (Osborne House, Open Thursday 20/1)
  • Charles Sturt (TBC Open Saturday 22/1)
  • Salisbury (TBC)
  • Onkaparinga (Open Monday 24/1)
  • Playford (TBC)- Berri/Barmera (Old Glossop High School)
  • Pt Augusta (Central Oval, 10 Augusta Terrace)
  • Murray Bridge (Showgrounds)
  • Mt Gambier (Vansittart Park, Commerical St, Open Thursday 20/1)
  • Naracoorte (Showgrounds Smith St, Open 22/1)
  • Mount Barker (TBC)

The State Government says it will continue to establish additional RAT distribution sites at other regional locations across the state, and South Australians in these areas have received, or will very soon receive, adequate supplies of RAT tests to reduce waiting times at PCR testing sites.

“The State Government also has undertaken a requisition process and has a regular supply of RAT tests entering South Australia that will allow members of the community to continue to take advantage of this testing approach and keep their friends, family and workmates safe,” Council said.

If you don’t have immediate access to a RAT test and you are a close contact, or of course have symptoms, please continue to use the numerous PCR testing sites across the state.
