Canberrans enter second lockdown month

The ACT will spend at least another month in lockdown after recording 22 new COVID-19 cases today.

Chief Minister, Andrew Barr this morning announced the lockdown extension – now set to end on October 15.

“This next month is a period of uncertainty and the next few weeks will be challenging,” Mr Barr said.

Fifty percent of the Territory’s residents aged over 12 are now fully vaccinated.

There are currently 10 people in ACT hospitals with coronavirus.

“Two of those are in ICU, with one requiring ventilation. Two are fully vaccinated but not in ICU,” said the ACT’s chief health official, Kerryn Coleman.

“One is partially vaccinated with one dose, six are unvaccinated and one is unknown at this point in time,” she said.

The oldest hospitalised COVID patient is aged in their 70s, while the youngest is in their 20s, Dr Coleman confirmed.
